Fees and Payments
From July 1 2024 our fees and payment schedule are as follows
Standard Consultation Psychologist: $230
Short Consultation Psychologist: $115
A standard consultation is 31-50 minutes and short consultation is 5-30 minutes.
We do not provide Bulk Billing (free) services
Letters / Completion of Forms / Other Reports:
With the exception of GP letters required as part of a mental health treatment plan, any additional report writing/letters/ form completion are billed at the standard hourly rate. This includes completion of NDIS access request forms. We typically expect to bill 1 hour per 1 page for letters/reports.
NDIS Participants:
Plan and Self Managed clients are charged at the relevant NDIA rate as stated in the current NDIA price guide. From 1st July 2024 the psychology rate $222.99. Consultations are billed by the hour. NDIS allows consultations to be longer than 1 hour. A consultation typically runs for 1.25hrs and includes 45-50 minutes of direct client service delivery and an additional 20-30 minutes of non-face to face support provision (including planning and resource development time). Phone calls and email contact that are required outside of consultation time will be billed accordingly.
Summary report (1-3 pages long): 2 - 4 Hrs
Comprehensive Report: 6 - 10 Hrs
Third Party Providers:
Services paid for by other third parties attract GST. Third parties will be provided with a service quote prior to the commencement of service.
Assessments:
Pre-assessment consultation $250. Prior to assessment a pre-assessment consultation is booked. During this appointment we gather further background and developmental history information and provide clarification and recommendations about the most appropriate assessment for your individual circumstances.
Pre-Assessment Consultation: $250
Autism Assessment: $2500
ADHD Assessment: $1500
Autism & ADHD: $3000
Cognitive Assessment (IQ Testing): $1200
Comprehensive Learning Assessment (e.g. testing for dyslexia, dyscalculia): $2000
Functional Capacity Assessment: $1500- $2500
Other Assessment: Individual Quote
Assessments are billed at the equivalent of $250 per hour and reflect hours allocated to report writing, assessment sessions and the costs associated with testing equipment and materials.
Late Cancellations
Amount of notice and fee that applies:
Cancellations made within 24 – 48 hours (notice period excludes weekends & public holidays) 50% of usual Session Fee
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice (notice period excludes weekends & public holidays) Full Session Fee
NDIS Participants: The NDIA considers a late cancellation to be anything less than 2 days notice.
Missed Appointments: Full Session Fee applies
No rebates are paid by Medicare for missed appointments.
Medicare Rebates
To receive a Medicare rebate for your appointment with a Psychologist, you need an eligible referral letter from your GP / Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. Up to 10 sessions can be used each calendar year. It is recommended that you speak with your GP regarding your eligibility for a Mental Health Treatment Plan. We require a copy of your referral letter (on letterhead, requesting psychology sessions) from your GP in order to be able to submit a Medicare rebate. For those that have a valid GP referral and where the Mental Health Treatment Plan has been submitted to Medicare (by your GP) the rebate for a Psychologist Standard Consultation is $96.65
Medicare Rebates for Autism Assessments
A mental health treatment plan cannot be used for the purpose of assessment.
Under Medicare’s complex neurodevelopmental disorder and disability services items, children and young people under the age of 25 years can access rebates assessment and treatment services related to Autism and other complex neurodevelopmental disabilities. This does not include ADHD. You will need a valid referral from you paediatrician or psychiatrist to be eligible to claim these rebates.
Payment Policy
Coastal Kids Psychology will seek payment for services at the time services are provided, in the following ways:
Self-Funded or Privately
The Client / Parent / Carer / Representative has chosen to pay for the services provided by Coastal Kids Psychology. Payment is required prior to or at the time of consultation. Failure to do so, will result in all future appointments being cancelled until payment has been made. In the instance of assessments, full payment of the assessment fee is required prior to the assessment report being released.
We process payment for sessions by debit or credit card through Power Diary, our secure client records management system. Your payment details are protected by bank-grade security and encryption. When your card details are entered into Power Diary, they are stored and tokenised in Power Diary's payments gateway, meaning that once initially entered and captured, they are not visible to anybody within the practice or at Power Diary. If payment details need to be altered or updated, they must be completely re-entered as a further security measure, as tokenised payment details cannot be edited. Power Diary's payments gateway is powered by Stripe, which is one of the world's largest online payment providers, with stringent data and security protocols for storing payment details.
Payment at the time of booking is required to secure your initial appointment. All other appointment payments are processed within 24 hours of your appointment time. We will notify you if there are any payment issues and if we are unable to process payment due to insufficient funds or incorrect card details.
Third Party Provider (including NDIS Plan Managed Participants)
Please note, if you are attending services funded by a Third Party Provider, your clinician may be required to provide treatment progress updates to this Third Party. If you are concerned about this, please discuss this with your clinician. Following the provision of services, Coastal Kids Psychology will forward an invoice to the Third Party Provider. The Third Party provider is required to pay the invoice within a 7-day period as specified on the invoice. If payment is not made in the required timeframe, the costs become payable by the Client / Parent / Carer / Representative and future appointments may be cancelled until payment has been made.
Assessments fees are billed in up to 4 instalments. The final payment is due prior to release of detailed report.

- Up to 4 appointments for private diagnosis when referred by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to a Psychologist for a person under 25 years old.
- Up to 20 sessions with a Psychologist. This is called the ‘Helping Children with Autism Treatment Plan.’ This plan was previously only available to those under 13 years old. As of March 2023, this plan is now available for those under 25 years old. Your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist will develop a treatment plan with you. These rebates can only be used once in your life time. The plan for therapy must be written by your 25th birthday and the 20 sessions can only be used before your 25th birthday.
